Here is a quick view of how basset hounds tend to stick to certain trails. you can see the footpath they have carved into the yard. I think they tend to do this because they are so low to the ground, don't like brushing their bellies on the grass and stick to line of sight interests.

Don't you wish there were a service just for transporting your basset hound wherever they wanted to go? Our dear Noble Had a malignant mast cell tumor on his hip removed a couple of weeks ago. Today he had 24 staples removed. They got good margins on the mass so we are praying that it didn't spread. At 11 1/2 years old he is very healthy and active.

I love basset hounds, but I sure hope you don't have any neighbors! Talk about disturbing the peace! 😅
A lot of dogs suffer from "barrier anxiety". You may think its cute but this causes stress if they cant reach you. (You can hear this at the end with the whining). Try not to tease them this way if you can.

I am so sorry for your loss. 16 is amazing. That's the oldest I've ever heard of a basset making it to. Our oldest puppies are now 12 years old.
